The @athleticsnsw 5000m champs on Saturday night featured some thrilling races. In the open men’s championship race it went down to the wire, as @ciaranrushton led a chase pack trying to run down eventual winner Luke Hince who gapped the field at 3k. Ciaran and Aden Velten from Victoria caught Luke in the final 200m, but Luke kicked again for a deserving win. Ciaran took third in the race, but NSW silver, 1 sec behind Luke. It was a 9 sec PB of 14:12 and an improvement on bronze last year for the 20 year old. In the Open Women’s Championship @helenae91 4th (8th in the race) and @chimpanbree 5th (9th in the race) both had strong top 5 NSW performances behind a dominant win from @izzythorntonbott We had many National Qualifiers and PBs from the Community races all the way through the graded races, as well as some great 800m results earlier in the day.Men A Race:Ciaran Rushton 3rd (2nd NSW) 14:12Women A Race:Helena Eastham 8th (4th NSW) 17:15Bree Golub 9th (5th NSW) 17:17Community A:Mitch Ryan 16:33Han Dachakoon 17:10Liam Woodford 17:50Jason Ks 18:32Men G Race:Earl O’Brien 18:21Tim Neylan 18:34Men F Race:Ian Simmons 16:15Josh Simone 16:19Aden Fiedler 16:21Aaron Houston 16:30Josiah Walters 17:14Rory Campbell 17:51Men E Race:James Icanovski 16:20Men D Race: Lincoln Judge 15:51Aston Lake 15:55Otto Khoo 16:35Women C Race:Liv O’Kelly 17:44Men C Race:James Penny 15:03Dan Francken 15:40Women B Race:Millie Chudley 17:30Abby Gilbert 17:52Sienna Phillips 18:18Men B Race Oskar Bukovinsky 15:30 ...
